Soul Winning Ministry

Great Commission Baptist Church is committed to sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ with everyone we can. Not only do we utilize the pulpit ministry and the Sunday school ministry to share the gospel, but we try to incorporate the gospel into EVERY ministry we engage in. After all, like our motto states, we are… ENDEAVORING TO LIVE UP TO OUR NAME!

Why?

Many people are glad that churches, like us, preach the Word of God to people inside the church building, but they fail to understand the importance of taking the gospel door to door. There are numerous verses that can be cited to give a foundation to our sincere efforts in evangelism. We will just reference one passage.

(2 Corinthians 5:17–21) “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature; old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation; To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them, and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation. Now then, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ’s stead, be ye reconciled to God. For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin, that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.” (KJV)

From the passage above, we understand that Jesus Christ has given every believer the glorious opportunity to share the message of God’s love and redemption with those around them. We are called “AMBASSADORS”! With a God-given responsibility such as this, how can we not seek to win the lost to Christ in ways other than a corporate worship service?

The Great Commission

The Great Commission, as it is often called, can be found specifically in Matthew 28:18–20. It is also referenced in Mark 16:15, Luke 24:46-48, John 21:15-17 (where our Lord instructs Peter to “feed my sheep”) and Acts 1:8. If one is to carry out the Great Commission corporately with the local assembly or in a more personal and individual way, then a “Soul-Winning Ministry” of some type will have to be employed.

Methods We Use

At Great Commission Baptist Church, we use a number of different methods for evangelizing our community. The method of choice is one-on-one, person-to-person, in whatever venue. Sometimes this is door-to-door; other times it is simply passing along a gospel tract at a restaurant.

Listed below are some of the various ways we spread the Gospel Of Jesus Christ through our Soul-Winning Ministry:

  1. Door-to-door visitation
  2. Various Advertisements In Newspapers and YouTube
  3. Gospel Tract Distribution
